The Invisible Veil
04:01
|
|||
Who can see in fractured skies
The shard of glass that pricks your eye
Taste the choice
I can see you best
When I look away
Mist obscures your arms outstretched
The veils that hide our word from truth
Taste the choice
I can see you best
When I look away
The hermit he roams in search of hints
Of a formless plane of glimmers and glints
In the twilight
I can see you best
When I look away

Thoughts multiply
In the eyes of the flies
Buzzing angrily
From endless nets
Rockets launch blazing
From genius lairs
Then fall in a crash
Of mass distraction
Why try again?
How arrogant
Let's diagnose this song
Which from its first howling nights
Bore the bilious wounds
Of a sickness of form
Birds that fly from cages
Sing with singular voice
Now the bestiaries lay open
The tune is lost in background
Destined to fail
Just like the rest

FDR Death Drive
02:51
|
|||
Waves of drivers in formation
Pass through concrete imagination
Blinking in wonder
At the view
Today a man on a motorcycle
Was killed on the FDR
Rushing back from his work
When he was struck by a speeding car
Spectators gather round to catch
A glimpse of authenticity
The modern holy trinity
Of leather, steel and flesh
In the wreckage-laden air
Bathed in headlamp glare
We are delivered
We transcend
A speeding funeral cortege
Halide torches in the rain
Envious eulogies
Written in exhaust trails
Consecrating windshields
With his last drops of blood,
The dying man says to himself
How could this have happened to me?
The lifeless image ends
To be preserved for eternity
As a pressed-leaf butterfly
A bright rushing of color
In the wreckage-laden air
Drowned in headlamp stares
We are delivered
And condemned

Suburban Anchorite
03:20

Change the course of your life
With just a single action
With the simplest of weapons
Your own front door
The first day of the experiment
Started like any other
By locking out the exterior
Can I expand the life within?
Nothing but the food she left behind
At the feet of this marooned sailor
Now passport, pictures, cash, and drivers license burn
Last traces of the world that rejected me
Time had displaced me
Space had enclosed me
Now the cupboards are bare
And hunger's setting in
The pages of a cookbook
Taste better than old stories
Just as my gnawing doubts could end this all
And I'm ready to give in
The changes I await begin
And the walls start to recede
Perspective lines flow out from me
Delineate the magnitude
Of this once-hidden world
Of exploded geometry
Time can sustain you
Space can sustain you
Time can reveal to you
Space can expand for you
Adorned with a crystal frost
She rests quietly in the freezer
Ready to be reborn in infinity
My cryogenic would-be savior
Could this be taking place
In the confines of my mind?
Could imagination shape
This shifting realm of light?
Soon I will lie beside her
In this dimensionless time capsule
Finding at last the still centre
Of the world that came to claim me
Time will sustain me
Space will sustain me
